Polarion Software has just launched a free version of their integrated ALM platform solution called Polarion ALM Community. It’s labeled as a “free ALM starter platform” and it provides integrated change management, bug tracking, and a few useful goodies in a cross-platform web portal application based on Eclipse, running on Apache, with Subversion underneath. If you develop with Java and use (or plan to use) Subversion, you might want to have a look at this tool. The company also provides a free Subversion migration tool, and a free plugin for Eclipse IDE that can act as a client for this system.

License for Polarion ALM Community is free for as many users as you need and doesn’t expire. Registration is required to get the license. You can get update releases free, but tech support requires a paid subscription.

Down the road, if you find you need tool support for more ALM aspects, you can seamlessly upgrade to one of Polarion’s other (i.e. not free) ALM solutions just by switching to different licensing. There’s nothing to download, install, or integrate. (More info on Polarion ALM solutions...)

Polarion ALM Community is available for download at www.polarion.com/downloads/alm.php.

To download, you need to sign up for a site account.
