Default Can't install Axis2 Code Gen plugin on Mac - 01-27-2009, 03:17 PM

Using Mac OS 10.5.6. Have Eclipse working fine but when I install the apache Axis2 Code Generator and/or the Axis2 Service Archiver from apache -- i.e. download, unzip, and place the jars into the plugins directory (or the dropins, makes no diff) and restart, the plugins are not found. They should result in a new Axis2 Wizards via File->New->Other.

This all works without any problems on a Windows Vista machine. I've seen other complaints via google about plugins not being seen on the Mac so it seems I'm not alone but it sure is frustrating. We are running Eclipse 3.4.1 Ganymede (no MyEclipse as it doesn't work well with Axis2). On Windows we are running 3.4 non-Ganymede.

Is there some secret to getting plugins working on Eclipse on a Mac?

I looked at this page but couldn't find any data that suggested that the Axis CodeGen has an Eclipse Update Site associated with it. I've had pretty good luck getting Eclipse plugins to install via the built-in software updates mechanism. Although it sounds like you've done exactly what they instruct you to do, I think this unpack and copy approach may be less reliable.

Also, the Axis page seems to reference Eclipse 3.1, while I'm assuming most people are currently running the 3.4 version. I wonder if there's an issue with the base Eclipse version here?

Peace,
Rick

I'm trying to think, but nothing happens...
