Default newbie to eclipse: xml plugins? - 06-24-2009, 08:21 PM

Good evening all,
I've got my shiny brand new copy of Eclipse Gallileo CDT and I'd like to get weaned off of Microsoft's IDE's. I can't figure out how to accomplish a few things though.

1. I'd like to use the IDE for XML editing. So far two of the plugins I've tried either crash or don't seem to load at all. I'd like to have content completion, folding, XSD validation, and XSD generation from an XML document if possible. Any suggestions?

2. I've got my subversion server working. What's the best way to integrate subversion into Eclipse?

Thanks for any help

Good to see people moving to Eclipse.

1) XML Tools: In the Help/Software Updates menu, add this link to the update sites: WTP Updates
It will download the web tools project, which has good XML edit functionality

2) I believe subclipse.tigris.org is the tool of choice for Subversion in Eclipse.

Good luck

Any idea where the dependencies can be found?

Missing requirement: Structured Text Model 1.1.400.v200905141750 (org.eclipse.wst.sse.core 1.1.400.v200905141750) requires 'bundle org.eclipse.emf.common [2.4.0,3.0.0)' but it could not be found

That's weird - I was under the impression it would find it's own dependencies. Maybe there's some issue with using this stuff with CDT.

File it as a bug on the eclipse site perhaps?

Maybe post a question on the CDT newsgroup about this first.
I don't use CDT at all I'm afraid
