Java Lobby Members,
My name is Doug Dunn. I was a very early Java Lobby member (under a different member name) back when Java Lobby first started. This is a courtesy announcement for the opening of JavaSpec.org. Both volumes of my Java fundamentals books are being republished as a wiki. You can read something of the history of my work on Java fundamentals at About JavaSpec.org. Regards, Doug |

Rick, I think a Java Lobby writeup is just what the doctor ordered. Growth is steady. People seem to like the new website, but having to build from scratch a second time requires a lot of patience. The offer to host the site (which is what I assume you meant) is especially generous. I am truly honored and thank you, but if you read the footnotes at the bottom of my main page you will see I am trying to form an association of independent computer book authors, so I need to go it alone, to serve as a model for them. It's a long shot, but at the very least it introduces the idea that it is finally time for computer book authors to completely abandon the old publishing models.
Regards, Doug |

I honestly had no idea someone could do this for me.
They just keep pouring in from all over the world, including two translation offers. I am so grateful to the Java community for giving me another shot at this. I will do my best not to squander the opportunity this time...I want to know where you buy your pens, Rick. I got very little sleep last night. She has a class to teach this morning, but I nevertheless had to wake her up three times in the night. A moment ago, I asked her to pinch me, which she did (on the cheek). Then I told her I got to go thank this guy. We're all smiles in Arkansas today. Thank you! ![]() |

Rick, My server went down yesterday, and I am getting reports of problems again today. I suppose I should expect as much for $7/month. Can you please email me so that we can talk about moving it to JavaLobby, if your offer is still on the table. -Doug
