NetBeans Vs. SwingDesigner -

Hi everyone.
I've just received an assignment to design a GUI platform for a new program. This is my first time with JAVA GUI builders and I have a problem. I'm a huge fan of open source programs so naturally I started using NetBeans 6.5 but then some of my friends told me that compare to SwingDesigner NetBeans offer very few features. Are they telling the truth? Living the money issue aside, which is better in what? Please be advise that the main purpose for using the GUI builder for me is to design the graphic shell for the program, in that case - which one is better suited for me? |

I'd recommend using the NetBeans GUI builder. I've never used SwingDesigner, but have used NetBeans extensively and have found that it does everything I need for GUIs.
SwingDesigner (IIRC) is based upon Eclipse, so may be useful however if you are familiar with Eclipse Since NB is open source though, its worth trying it out first and seeing if it does what you need. |
