Boulder, CO – Windward Reports, today, released its much anticipated design tool, AutoTag 7. This release includes numerous new features including the ability to design reports in PowerPoint and the addition of user defined tags. These coupled with improved existing features, such as their powerful XML and SQL wizards, promise to make AutoTag 7 more powerful and even easier to use. In their continued effort to champion easy-to-use reporting, Windward is releasing AutoTag 7 less than a year after version 6 and cementing their position as the premier enterprise reporting package in the industry.
The idea to include PowerPoint among Word and Excel as AutoTag design platforms originated from growing customer demand. With AutoTag now available in PowerPoint as well, users can have the custom reports they give via PowerPoint presentations draw their information directly from company data sources. It will also allow users to create dynamic reports en masse and formatted as PowerPoint presentations.
AutoTag 7 will also be able to use HTML code in the templates. “We have several requests from customers who have HTML in their data and would like it to render in their final reports, so now it will” Dave Thielen said, the CEO of Windward Reports.
Windward has also added a new feature, called User Defined Tags, or UDTs, that allows users to design reports even with little or no knowledge of the underlying data source. This feature was created so that technical users can help make non-technical users’ jobs significantly easier by doing a one-time definition of tags in an XML file.
About Windward Reports
Launched in 2002, Windward Reports is the only full-featured, robust J2EE/.NET reporting engine to use Microsoft Word as a layout tool, putting report-design and generation power in the hands of the end user, technical or non-technical. Any Word user can easily and securely create reports with almost no learning curve. Also unique, Windward Reports implements in hours, offers affordable use-based pricing, and offers “prompt, fantastic” technical support via a 24/7 support forum and support contracts. Windward Reports works by merging any XML, SQL or custom data source—or any combination thereof—with a Microsoft Word report template. It feeds data into the template to create a what-you-see-is-what-you-get report that can be generated in PDF, .RTF, HTML, WordML, .XLS, SpreadsheetML, .TXT, or multipart-MIME-email format. Available as a Java library, Windward Reports runs as a standalone application or in an enterprise computing environment.
