Default Ruby on Rails.. Not Ruby & Rails - 06-01-2008, 04:24 PM

Ruby is a programming language. Ruby on Rails is a framework built using the Ruby programming language.

Ruby & Rails may be referring to the Ruby programming language and the Rails framework using the much uttered slang "Rails" which really means "Ruby on Rails".

As a "Languages and Frameworks" category on DZone though I think the more correct and complete phrases Ruby and/or Ruby on Rails should be preferred over the title "Ruby & Rails".

Ruby is fully object oriented computer language written in C by a young man from japan. His nickname is "Matz".. His real japanese name is way to complicated for me to remember. Ruby can be used for pretty much anything you need to do with a computer. It's really just a bunch of "C" shortcuts. A 4th generation language if you will.

The english version of the main website for Ruby language syntax is at

Ruby Programming Language

Have fun.
