Only show announcements on home/zone pages

Can we please only show the Announcements on the home page, or the home view of each zone?

In Drupal, this should be as easy as going to the Block configuration page, editing the Block that contains the announcements and specifying a page or pages to Only Display On.

Reading about the IndicZone on my profile page doesn't really make sense to me.

(Alternatively, but probably harder, give the announcements a "I've read this now"-style link which removes it forevermore.)
