Sure is odd to goto the #1 Java site and see: (dot).php in the browser's address dialog URL. I just would be happy if I could get my old JavaLobby userid back so I can use my preferred email. the DZ won't even let me create a new userid because the claim is: that email address is taken... Heck, I can't even get my JavaLobby newsletter as an attached HTML email anymore. Instead: the JavaLobby newsletter is now formatted as impossible-to-read plain text. After 10 years straight daily Java it's now the: end-of-the-road. Where is that PHP book I bought all those years ago?

Having tried Drupal a couple of times I cannot but wonder this choice. The programming style is like a bad breath from the past, having a awkward mixture of content and representation. For a developer who has been using the MVC approach for years it is a strange world. Well, it DOES use CSS but this fact covers most of the positive things I can say about it.

We really understand the feeling, and the new zones are definitely powered by a PHP framework, but exactly which URL had .php in it? That would be a mistake and should be corrected.

Email support@dzone.com with any details (your name, old user id, registered email address) you can remember, and we will help get things sorted out. Your old user id and password should still work, but maybe something went wrong? We'll be happy to help.

Ouch! That would be another big mistake. SInce the newsletter is prepared and sent via a different system, this may be a separate problem that is not directly related to the changes. Again, please send us details (forward what you received with full SMTP headers, if possible) to support@dzone.com and we'll try to find and fix the problem.

Thanks,
Rick
